Hacker Joseph James O'Connor had $4 million worth of BTC confiscated.
According to Deep Tide TechFlow news on November 17, Forbes reported that the hacker Joseph James O'Connor, who attacked the Twitter accounts of well-known figures such as Biden, Obama, and Musk, had 42 Bitcoins and other Crypto Assets confiscated by the UK Crown Prosecution Service, with a total value of approximately £4.1 million (about $5.4 million), of which the value of the Bitcoins exceeded $4 million.
In July 2020, O'Connor was involved in a large-scale Twitter account hacking incident, targeting over 130 accounts, including those of well-known individuals and companies such as Biden, Obama, Musk, and Bill Gates. The Hacker used these accounts to carry out Bitcoin scams, promising to double the Crypto Assets sent by users. The related tweets were viewed at least 350 million times.
O'Connor is currently serving a five-year sentence in the United States. The UK Royal Prosecutor's Office stated that even if a criminal has not been convicted in the UK, authorities can still ensure that they do not benefit from criminal activities.
