SushiSwap (SUSHI) has proposed an ambitious strategy to diversify its treasury assets, which currently consist of 100% its own native SUSHI tokens.

“Treasury Diversification Proposal” presents a roadmap to create a more balanced and resilient treasury. The main objectives of this initiative can be listed as follows:

  • Reducing Volatility: To balance the value of the Treasury, reduce dependence on SUSHI assets.
  • Increasing Liquidity: Ensuring that the Treasury has sufficient liquid assets for operational and strategic needs.
  • Generate Yield: Leveraging diversified assets for the purpose of staking, lending, or providing liquidity to generate passive income.

Sushi DAO proposes to reallocate treasury assets by liquidating SUSHI tokens into three categories:

  • Stablecoins (%70): The majority of the treasury will be converted to stablecoins such as USDC and USDT to provide stability and liquidity.
  • Large Cryptocurrencies (20%): Some will be allocated to established assets such as Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin (BTC) for diversification and potential growth.
  • DeFi Tokens (%10): Optional allocation based on comprehensive risk-reward assessments for high-potential decentralized finance (DeFi) tokens such as AAVE.

The local assets of the Treasury will be gradually liquidated using a dollar-cost averaging (DCA) strategy to minimize market impact.
