Putin made a statement on the Russia-Ukraine ceasefire, while Trump and Zelensky made separate remarks.
On March 14th, Jinshi Data reported that Russian President Putin stated that he supports the proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine, but there are many issues that need to be discussed and resolved. At a joint press conference after meeting with Belarusian President Lukashenko, Putin stated that Russia agrees to the proposal to end the hostile state with Ukraine, but the premise is that the ceasefire can bring lasting peace and eliminate the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis. Putin also mentioned that the temporary ceasefire proposal suggested by the United States on the 30th is favorable to Ukraine given the situation in Kursk Oblast under Russian control. He will follow up on how to supervise the ceasefire and may have a phone call with US President Trump. During a meeting at the White House with NATO Secretary-General Stoltenberg, Trump described Putin’s statement as very hopeful but incomplete. He is willing to meet or talk with Putin, emphasizing the need to reach a ceasefire protocol as soon as possible. Ukrainian President Zelensky believes that Putin is preparing to reject the ceasefire proposal but dares not say directly to Trump. Russia has set conditions for the ceasefire, attempting to delay reaching an agreement or making it impossible to achieve a ceasefire.
