Wintermute Ventures quietly adjusted its investment pace in 2025. According to the latest statement from CEO Evgeny Gaevoy, the success rate for new project investments by institutions this year has dropped to 4%, a figure that has attracted considerable attention across the crypto investment community.

Unlike the "broad deployment" strategy of previous years, Wintermute this year focused its screening criteria on three dimensions: technological robustness, team execution capability, and project-ecosystem fit. In other words, to secure investment from this institution, projects must score highly in all three areas; otherwise, it's basically a no-go.

What does a 4% success rate mean? Simply put, out of 100 business plans (BP), only 4 can pass the initial review. This ratio is approaching the admission standards of top universities, which indeed puts significant pressure on startups seeking funding. Many industry insiders comment that this move marks a turning point—suggesting that the crypto market may be shifting from broad, indiscriminate investing to more refined, selective screening.

From an institutional perspective, this adjustment reflects several realities: First, the survival rate and returns of projects invested in over the past two years have been uneven, prompting investors to raise their standards; second, market enthusiasm is returning to rationality, and the era of blindly chasing trends is over; third, rising capital costs mean institutions need to balance risk with higher expectations.

For startups, this undoubtedly presents a challenge. The difficulty of raising funds is increasing sharply, requiring more effort to refine products, accumulate data, and demonstrate business value. Some entrepreneurs may need to spend more time on roadshows and fundraising. But from another angle, this high threshold could also foster more "hardcore" projects—those with genuine technical expertise and reliable teams may attract even more attention.

It is worth noting that while a single institution's strategic adjustment has indicative significance, it does not directly represent the overall industry trend. However, when leading investment firms are raising their standards, this signal is indeed worth serious attention from all participants within the ecosystem. For investors, this may mean that the projects subsequently funded by Wintermute and similar institutions have already undergone a significant portion of the screening process on your behalf.

The market is evolving, and the ecosystem is optimizing. This may well become the new normal for crypto financing in 2025.

4% pass rate? Now even top universities have to step aside. Things are really starting to heat up.

4% acceptance rate? This isn't fundraising, it's a beauty pageant... Are entrepreneurs starting to compete over tech stacks or what?

4% huh, that's really tough, directly choking off the supply.

4% pass rate? Bro, that's directly choking off the pipeline, like 99 out of 100 BP dead. --- So, real projects are actually more in demand now; the spring for trash projects is truly over. --- Wait, does this mean I can directly follow up on projects funded by Wintermute? It's like they helped me filter them out. --- Raising funding difficulty skyrocketing, I just want to laugh. A bunch of projects made on a whim deserve to die. --- Speaking of which, this turning point should have come long ago. After being cut so many times, can't you learn to pick projects? --- Refining products, accumulating data... easy to say, hard to do. Entrepreneurs are under a lot of pressure. --- But how many institutions Wintermute's move can represent is hard to say; some VCs still invest recklessly. --- From broad investment to refined screening, this is what market maturity looks like. --- What does a 4% concept mean? It's even harder than getting into Tsinghua. I just gave up.

4% pass rate? Damn, this is even more competitive than the college entrance exam. --- Starting to talk about "refined screening" again, which basically means running out of money and having to be more careful. --- Really hardcore projects have long been locked in by top-tier institutions. Medium-sized startup teams are truly struggling now. --- Wintermute's move is a bit ruthless, but it also clearly shows one thing—the bubble needs to be squeezed out. --- Raising capital is already difficult, and now with higher thresholds, it feels like the 2021 wave of entrepreneurship should be completely over. --- No matter how nicely you put it, the reality doesn't change—money is tight, and investors are starting to be picky. --- Isn't this just the market shifting from greed to caution? Projects that should have exited early already should have exited. --- It's interesting. Conversely, projects backed by Wintermute are indeed more worth watching.

4% acceptance rate? That's Wintermute's way of saying "Don't bother me." The pressure on projects is indeed high, but to be honest, the things filtered out this way might actually be more worth paying attention to.

4% approval rate? Isn't that basically saying most projects are trash? Haha, it's indeed a bit late to start strict selection now. It's really a return to rationality; blindly chasing trends should have died long ago. This is actually a good thing for teams that work seriously; trash projects, get out. Projects backed by top-tier institutions are indeed more credible. The era of meticulous screening has arrived; focusing on good products is much more important than just telling stories.

4% approval rate? Isn't that just saying not to invest in those get-rich-quick projects... By the way, the truly capable teams have already secured funding long ago.

4% approval rate? Bro, this is just selling blood dumplings, 99 out of 100 BPs fail. I just want to ask those project managers still blindly pitching, why haven't you awakened yet?
