Gotas is a representative payment-oriented project within EcoCity, and payments are among the least suitable use cases for sharing rollup blockspace.\n\nThe core requirements of a payment system are not peak throughput, but fee predictability, execution finality, and long-term system stability. These are precisely the properties that are hardest to guarantee in a shared environment.\n\nIn a shared rollup, payment transactions must compete for blockspace with DeFi, NFTs, and other highly volatile applications. Even if fees remain low most of the time, a single episode of sudden congestion is enough to immediately break the payment experience.\n\nThis kind of instability cannot be solved by parameter tuning. It is an architectural constraint. Gotas chose to build a sovereign L1 within EcoCity in order to isolate payment execution from external interference.\n\nWith support from @TanssiNetwork, Gotas can achieve a stable execution cadence and a controllable fee model without spending months on validators, security setup, or core infrastructure operations.\n\nThis orchestration capability fundamentally changes how payment projects evaluate the viability of launching their own L1. Through EcoCity’s phased launch approach, Gotas does not deploy a fully complete system all at once, but gradually exposes real functionality and on-chain behavior.\n\nUsers come to understand whether it is suitable for payment use cases through direct interaction, rather than being persuaded by narrative.\n\nThat process itself demonstrates that sovereign L1s have shifted from heavy, upfront infrastructure bets to a verifiable, product-driven development path.
