Estée Lauder sues Walmart for selling counterfeit products, involving brands such as La Mer, TF, and others.

Estee Lauder, a well-known beauty and skincare group, has filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in California, accusing Walmart of selling counterfeit beauty products on its website and failing to take sufficient measures to ensure that only authorized and genuine products are provided to consumers.

According to the lawsuit filed on Monday, Estee Lauder stated that it purchased, inspected, or tested multiple products labeled with trademarks such as Le Labo, La Mer, Clinique, Aveda, Tom Ford, and Estee Lauder on Walmart.com, but all were identified as fake.

The report states that although these products were sold by third-party sellers on Walmart’s online marketplace, Estee Lauder claims Walmart played an active role in facilitating these sales. Estee Lauder described Walmart’s conduct as “extreme, malicious, fraudulent… despicable and harmful.”

Estee Lauder believes that these counterfeit products are promoted and advertised on Walmart’s platform, with the company’s trademarks used for search engine optimization to attract traffic to these product pages, from which Walmart profits.

In response to the lawsuit, a Walmart spokesperson stated that the company has a zero-tolerance policy for counterfeit products and will respond appropriately in accordance with the law after receiving the court summons.
