Goldman Sachs on February 26th — Danske Bank has cut 420 jobs across its regional business units, citing increased automation reducing the need for support staff. Danske Bank stated that most layoffs will occur in Denmark and Lithuania, with smaller cuts in other Nordic offices as well as in Poland and Northern Ireland. The affected positions mainly focus on support roles that do not involve direct customer contact. The bank said, “In recent years, we have increased automation and simplified workflows, which means many processes that previously required manual operation are now automated or supported by more powerful tools.” These layoffs further intensify the ongoing wave of job cuts across major Danish companies and deepen concerns that this may not be just a temporary adjustment but a long-term consequence of expansion.
