Pi KYC Verification: Complete Guide to Successful Approval
KYC verification (Know Your Customer) is an essential step for all Pi Network users. It allows you to transfer your Pi Coins mined on the Mainnet and perform real transactions. Although the Pi KYC process is generally straightforward, many users report challenges when uploading documents, during live verification, or with machine recognition. This comprehensive guide walks you through all the necessary requirements and steps to successfully obtain your Pi KYC approval.
Requirements for Pi KYC Approval
Before starting the verification process, you must meet the following criteria:
Note: Exact requirements and availability of the Pi KYC service may vary depending on your country or region.
How to Submit Your Pi KYC Application: Step-by-Step Guide
Follow these ten steps to submit your Pi KYC verification:
Step 1 & 2: First, install the Pi Browser app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. If you already have the app, open it and navigate to the Mainnet section, which you can find in the side menu.
Step 3: Tap on the Mainnet checklist and complete all tasks until you reach the “Submit your Pi KYC application” task.
Step 4: Once all previous tasks are completed, the Pi KYC application tab will unlock. Tap on it to start. If it doesn’t work, manually go to the “kyc.pi” section in the Pi Browser app.
Step 5: On the first screen, select your country from the dropdown menu—choose the country as it appears on your ID.
Step 6: Then select the type of ID document you will use for verification (passport is preferred).
Step 7: The next screen shows four instruction slides explaining how to photograph your ID correctly. Read these carefully and click “Next.”
Step 8: Now, the “Add front photo” option appears. Tap it to activate the camera. Take a clear photo of the front of your ID. If your ID has a back side with important information, photograph that as well. Tip: Hold the document in landscape orientation when photographing.
Step 9: After uploading the ID photo, you will be directed to a form where you must enter the same data as on your ID:
Step 10: After submitting the form, the live verification begins. Click “I am ready,” and the front camera will automatically activate. Hold the camera directly in front of your face so it is clearly captured. This is the final step of your Pi KYC application.
Waiting Times and KYC Review Status
After submitting your Pi KYC application, approval times can vary. Sometimes, confirmation occurs within minutes, especially if you provided correct data and there are enough reviewers in your region. However, the review usually takes several days or even weeks. Regularly monitor your application status—it will either be approved or rejected. If your documents are unclear and the automated system cannot capture important details like your face, name, or country, you may be asked to re-upload your ID photo or selfie.
How to Check Your Pi KYC Status
There are several ways to check your Pi KYC application status:
Method 1: Visit your profile in the Pi Network app. If a green checkmark appears next to “Identity Verification” (Pi KYC), your verification is confirmed. A loading animation indicates your application is still under review.
Method 2: Go to the Mainnet checklist. If the “Waiting for Pi KYC results” tab is green, your KYC has been approved.
Note: In rare cases, checklist tabs may not turn green after approval, even if you have been accepted. This could be a technical issue with the Pi Network app. Rely mainly on the status indicator in your profile or in the separate Pi KYC app (within the Pi Browser).
The Verification System Behind Pi KYC
Given the enormous size of the Pi community, it is practically impossible for the core development team to manually verify every user’s identity. Therefore, a decentralized verification system has been implemented, where already verified users review new applications.
When you submit your Pi KYC, it is forwarded to someone who has already been successfully verified. After their review, your application is sent to a second verified reviewer. If both reviewers approve, you receive Pi KYC approval. Often, reviewers are from your own country or region, which greatly simplifies and speeds up the process. For each submitted Pi KYC, one Pi coin is awarded and distributed as a reward to the reviewers.
