On March 2nd, local time, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that the situation in Iran is currently very concerning, and the possibility of radioactive material leaks causing serious consequences cannot be ruled out. The IAEA will promptly inform the international community and is ready to respond immediately if any nuclear safety breaches occur. Grossi said that the regional safety monitoring network has entered a state of alert, and Iran’s neighboring countries have not detected radiation levels above normal. Armed attacks on nuclear facilities could lead to radioactive leaks and must be avoided at all costs. To ensure Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons and to maintain the ongoing effectiveness of the global non-proliferation mechanism, the resolution of related issues must return to diplomatic and negotiation channels. Grossi stated that he has been closely involved in supporting efforts by all parties to seek a diplomatic solution to Iran’s nuclear program. He participated in two rounds of talks held recently in Geneva and brought technical and impartial recommendations from the IAEA. (CCTV News)
