Abstract generation in progress

Tech Home, March 2 — XPeng Motors held its second-generation VLA media experience day today, officially launching the second-generation VLA. It is reported that the second-generation VLA will begin global delivery in 2027; Volkswagen will be the first customer to receive the second-generation VLA.

According to Sina Tech, during today’s briefing, XPeng Motors Chairman He Xiaopeng stated that through internal comparison tests, the second-generation VLA outperforms industry-leading competitors by nearly five times in terms of takeover rate, smoothness, and supported range.

He Xiaopeng said, “From this year to the next, I believe the most important result and the most important indicator for users is how many days they haven’t touched the steering wheel. Currently, most Level 2 systems are limited to specific scenarios and require constant supervision. In many cases, they may need to be paused or cannot be used at all, which can make people feel uneasy and insecure.”

IT Home learned from the press conference that in terms of update pace, the second-generation VLA will begin full deployment this month to new XPeng P7, G7, and X9 models with Ultra or Ultra SE versions, and in April, it will be pushed to XPeng G7, 2026 P7+ models, G9, and G6.

When discussing the future development direction of the automotive industry, He Xiaopeng said that the automotive field will soon undergo cross-domain integration. “Autonomous driving is the movement of the vehicle, smart cabins are the brain of the vehicle, and there’s also power and chassis. These four domains are currently undergoing cross-domain integration.”

He Xiaopeng pointed out that future L4 or Robotaxi manufacturers will shift from single-domain integration to cross-domain fusion. This will be faster, cheaper, safer, and more responsive, with significantly enhanced capabilities—from passive use to active service.

He Xiaopeng emphasized, “I firmly believe that full autonomous driving will be realized within 1 to 3 years, and within 3 to 5 years, all cars will be super intelligent agents, and powerful super intelligent agents at that.”
