Germany's photovoltaic power generation increases year-over-year by more than 10% for two consecutive years

The recent data released by the Federal Statistical Office of Germany shows that in 2025, Germany’s photovoltaic power generation increased by 17.4% year-on-year, reaching 70.1 billion kWh, accounting for 16% of the country’s total electricity generation. Both the generation volume and the proportion have reached new highs since relevant statistics began in 2018. Germany’s photovoltaic power generation has increased by more than 10% year-on-year for two consecutive years. The data also shows that in 2025, renewable energy power generation in Germany decreased by 0.1% year-on-year to 256.9 billion kWh, accounting for 58.6% of total electricity generation. Wind energy remains Germany’s primary energy source, but its generation volume decreased by 3.6% year-on-year to 131.3 billion kWh, accounting for 30% of total electricity. Hydropower decreased by 22.5% year-on-year to 15.8 billion kWh, accounting for 3.6% of total electricity.
