Odaily Planet Daily reports that FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that although Iran and the United States, a co-host country for the World Cup, have continued to experience armed conflict, Iran will still participate in World Cup matches in the United States in June as planned. Infantino said he would do everything he can to support the Iranian team. As scheduled, Iran should play all matches in its Group G in the United States, with two matches in Los Angeles and one match in Seattle. Previously, Iran’s football association had been strongly pushing to move the team’s three World Cup group-stage matches from the United States to Mexico. The Iranian Ministry of Sports has banned national teams and sports teams of clubs from traveling to countries it considers hostile until further notice.
