On April 21, informed sources stated that Iran has notified regional mediators that it will send a negotiation team to Islamabad on Tuesday to participate in the second round of talks with the United States. Tehran has not publicly confirmed its attendance at the meeting in Pakistan. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaei stated at a press conference on Monday that there are no plans for a second round of negotiations in the capital Islamabad, leading to confusion about whether they will attend. Iranian President Pezeshkian earlier indicated that Tehran harbors a deeply rooted historical distrust of the U.S. government, adding that ‘Iranians will not succumb to force.’ (The Wall Street Journal)
