Scholar Research: AI-Caused Layoffs Lack Evidence, Enterprises Should Disclose Actual Impact of AI on Workforce

Gate News reports that on March 16, Nanyang Technological University Associate Professor of Accounting Kelvin Law wrote that multiple surveys show there is currently little evidence that AI is a primary reason for corporate layoffs. He believes that AI is more often used by companies as a “shareholder-friendly” excuse for cost-cutting. Kelvin Law calls on companies to proactively disclose the actual impact of AI on workforce changes to improve transparency.
