NVIDIA Releases DLSS 5, Combining Traditional 3D Graphics with Generative AI for Real-Time 4K Rendering

Gate News reports that on March 17, NVIDIA announced DLSS 5 technology at GTC. This technology combines traditional 3D graphics structured data with generative AI models, enabling GeForce GPUs to achieve real-time 4K photo-quality rendering locally without rasterizing each scene element pixel by pixel. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang described this approach as “the fusion of controllable 3D graphics and probabilistic generative AI,” stating that the former is “completely predictable” and the latter is “highly realistic,” allowing developers to create content that is “both exquisite and controllable.” Huang positioned DLSS 5’s technical path as the starting point for a broader paradigm shift, saying, “The integration of structured information with generative AI will be replicated across industries.” He cited enterprise data platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, and BigQuery as examples, predicting that future AI Agents will simultaneously invoke structured and generative databases for processing tasks.
