McLaren Racing has officially joined the Hedera Council. The motorsport giant brings its massive global reach to the Hedera ecosystem.

The team competes in Formula 1 and IndyCar, drawing hundreds of millions of fans across 180 countries. This partnership marks a push into Web3 for one of racing’s most iconic brands.

A series of digital collectibles has already launched alongside the membership.

McLaren Racing and Hedera Council Partnership

McLaren Racing joins the governing body of the Hedera network as a full member.

The team holds equal voting rights alongside other Council members. It will also actively contribute to the governance of Hedera’s software and services.

Nick Martin, Co-Chief Commercial Officer at McLaren Racing, addressed the move directly.

He stated that McLaren Racing builds on performance and innovation, extending that into fan engagement. Martin added that Council membership allows the team to help shape the network’s evolution while delivering a secure fan experience worldwide.

Mance Harmon, Chairman of Hedera Council, also welcomed the development.

He noted that McLaren Racing brings global reach, a digitally native fan base, and a strong track record of innovation. For Hedera, the addition opens new ground in fan engagement, digital assets, and data integrity.

Free Digital Collectibles Tied to the 2026 Race Season

The first major use case under this membership is already live. McLaren Racing launched a series of free-to-mint digital collectibles built on the Hedera network.

Each drop carries race and location-specific creative elements tied to the 2026 Formula 1 and IndyCar seasons.

The first collectible dropped during the Australian Grand Prix weekend.

A second followed during the Chinese Grand Prix. The third is scheduled to coincide with the Japanese Grand Prix. More releases are expected throughout the year.

Fans can claim collectibles using native crypto wallets or Web2 social sign-on wallets. This makes the process accessible to those new to blockchain.

The programme aims to serve as a bridge between the motorsport world and the broader Web3 space.

Hedera’s Web3 Strategy Gains a Major Motorsport Brand

McLaren Racing’s entry into the Hedera ecosystem fits into a larger strategy. Hedera positions itself as an enterprise-grade, sustainable blockchain network.

Adding a high-profile sports brand strengthens that position considerably.

The digital collectibles programme also targets community growth.

Collectible holders gain closer access to the McLaren Racing team. Activity centres around the team’s Discord server, where on-chain engagement takes place.

McLaren Racing’s leadership will attend HederaCon on May 4 in Miami Beach.

The event aligns with both the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix and Consensus 2026. Builders, Council members, and industry leaders will gather to discuss tokenization and decentralized technology.

More McLaren Racing activations tied to the season are expected ahead of that event.
