Gate News: In March 2026, Pi Network officially announced a phased plan to upgrade nodes to v23, clarifying the key technological milestones for the coming months. According to the schedule, version 21.2 will be fully deployed by April 22, 2026, followed by version 22.1 planned for launch on May 18, with the ultimate goal of completing the v23.0 upgrade within a few weeks thereafter.

This roadmap provides clearer expectations for node operators and community users and indicates that the project’s development pace is becoming more systematic. For long-term followers of the Pi ecosystem, these specific timelines boost confidence in the project’s execution capabilities.

Technically, this upgrade focuses on paving the way for smart contract functionality. Smart contracts are the core foundation of blockchain application ecosystems, supporting decentralized applications in handling payments, asset management, and service logic. Pi Network has already completed the transition to Protocol 20, and subsequent versions will gradually add missing features, evolving the network from a basic transfer system into an application platform.

The node system is also a key part of this upgrade. With each version iteration, node operators will gain better tools and greater autonomy, helping to improve network stability and decentralization. Additionally, Pi Network is advancing its open-source strategy, planning to gradually open source code and development environments to attract more developers to participate in ecosystem building.

On the community level, market feedback remains cautiously optimistic. On one hand, the continuous version plans are seen as a sign of accelerated development; on the other hand, past delays still cause some users to remain cautious. Whether the development progresses according to schedule will be a critical test of the project’s credibility.

Meanwhile, Pi Network is increasing external exposure, including participating in industry events like Consensus 2026 and exploring potential scenarios combining AI and Web3. The coming months will be a crucial window; if the upgrades proceed smoothly, the Pi ecosystem could enter a new phase of development.
