OpenAI Codex project lead publicly asks users: "Increase prices during peak times, give more during lows—do you think that's okay?"

BlockBeatNews

According to monitoring by 1M AI News, Thibault Sottiaux, the engineering lead for OpenAI Codex, posted on X stating that Codex currently experiences a significant disparity in load between peak and off-peak hours, and the team hopes to make traffic distribution more even to utilize computing power more efficiently. He directly solicited user opinions: is it reasonable to allocate more usage during off-peak hours and introduce a multiplier cost during peak hours? He also mentioned that the team already has some ideas but wants to hear what users think first.

Regarding the issue of insufficient compute power, OpenAI chose to ask a question before taking action. Meanwhile, Anthropic’s response to the Claude Code quota crisis is a usage guide: do not use Opus, do not enable around 1 million context, do not restore idle sessions, do not mention compensation, and do not ask users for their opinions.
