The Hong Kong Monetary Authority will announce the first batch of stablecoin licenses at 5:00 p.m. today, with a total of 36 applications received.

Gate News message, April 10, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority will announce the first batch of stablecoin licenses today at 5:00 p.m., and then the licensed stablecoin issuers will meet with the media.

Previously, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority completed the final review of the first batch of applications in mid-March, and it is now entering the stage of preparing for official publication. The Monetary Authority received 36 applications in total, and it plans to issue 2 to 3 licenses in the first batch, with strict regulatory standards.

In early February this year, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s Chief Executive Eddie Yue Wai-man said that it would seek to issue Hong Kong’s first batch of stablecoin issuer licenses in March this year. He also emphasized: “The number of licenses issued in the first batch will definitely not be large, with a goal of proceeding prudently.”
