The banking regulatory authority OCC in the US has approved banks to act as intermediaries in cryptocurrency transactions. With this regulation, banks can now offer services to their customers for buying and selling crypto assets. This is considered a very significant step for the industry.

Ironically, banks are now coming in to get a piece of the pie. Data shows the last major institutional entry was at the end of 2017, and then what happened [sneer] --- Interesting, yet another traditional finance player thinking they can change the game. Not to be contrary, but history's lessons are right there. --- Objectively, this is just traditional finance looking for a new source of fees. They call it an important step, but what is it really? --- I suggest everyone take a look at what happened to those "important regulations" from 2008 before entering the market. --- From a tech innovation perspective, it's not bad, but the business logic? [funny] Banks act as middlemen, double the fees, and retail investors still have to pay taxes. --- Wait, I remember there was an "important moment" like this in 2013 too. So why does the crypto market still crash cyclically? --- Let’s talk again in six months and see if this "important step" was really important. Want to bet? --- What’s interesting is, as more institutions enter, retail investors seem to get fleeced even faster. Coincidence?
