Cosine: Zcash does not enforce privacy by default; its balanced design is better understood by regulators.

ME News, on December 10 (UTC+8), SlowMist founder Cosine commented on “Arkham deanonymizing over half of Zcash (ZEC) transactions,” stating that the high proportion of traceable Zcash transactions is nothing new. Back in the previous cycle when privacy coins were trending, Zcash was already like this—it does not enforce privacy by default, but rather allows users to choose. For example, addresses starting with “z” are strongly private, while those starting with “t” are transparent and traceable. This design makes Zcash more understandable to regulators compared to privacy coins like Monero (XMR), which are private by default. On mainstream platforms today, almost all Zcash addresses start with “t,” indicating that the group that truly values privacy is very small, and catering to regulation is the way forward for platforms. Compared to the hardcore Monero, Zcash’s privacy design is more balanced, which may give it a broader future. (Source: ME)
