That last part hits different. He's clearly referring to the backlash his Tesla faced while he was busy with government work. Seems like the political detour cost him more than he bargained for—literally watched his brand take heat (pun intended) while he was away.
Hindsight's 20/20, but you gotta respect the candid admission. Not many execs would openly admit they picked the wrong battle.
