#数字资产生态回暖 The fraud case of LUNA project founder Do Kwon has come to an end. The former crypto star has pleaded guilty in Manhattan Federal Court, with the final sentencing scheduled for December 11, 2025.
The severity of the situation exceeds many people's expectations. In August 2025, Do Kwon officially admitted to two serious crimes—"conspiracy to commit fraud" and "wire fraud"—which resulted in catastrophic losses of approximately $40 billion for global investors. Prosecutors took a hard stance, recommending 12 years in prison; the defense sought a lighter sentence of less than 5 years. The final sentence is expected to fall between 5 and 12 years.
Imprisonment alone is not enough. The authorities' "liquidation" of Do Kwon includes confiscating $19 million of criminal proceeds and freezing personal assets. Last June, he reached a settlement with the U.S. SEC requiring him to pay $204 million for investor compensation. Terraform Labs, founded by him, was also not spared, facing the seizure of huge illegal profits and civil fines.
The most painful part is that the US prison sentence is just the beginning. South Korean prosecutors have already filed charges against him, and once he completes his sentence in the US, the likelihood of extradition to South Korea for trial is very high—where the maximum sentence can reach 40 years. From a pioneer leading the crypto boom to today facing accountability in multiple countries, Do Kwon's story has become one of the industry's most sobering lessons.

Do Kwon really went all out this time; he lost $40 billion and now has to go to jail... Just thinking about it is heartbreaking.

This guy really screwed himself over, 40 billion USD, and still wants to run? Serves him right.

Oh no, $40 billion... It's completely over now, and Korea still has to wait.

That's why I stick to playing mainstream coins and avoid those crazy little projects.

Oh no, this is a classic case of falling from grace. 40 billion just disappeared like that, truly incredible.
This guy is now wanted worldwide. After Korea finishes with him, he’ll have to go to South Korea next. Hilarious.
The fate of the Rug pull king is like this. Everyone in the crypto world, take note.
Do Kwon used to be so arrogant, now he's in such a miserable state. Karma, indeed.
Starting from 2012, quite a long time. I think the prosecutor's suggestion is reasonable.
2.04 billion in compensation—can this money really return to the investors? Or will they lose another layer of skin?
This mess serves as a warning to all new projects: don’t get carried away by hype and get involved in scams.
Korea will also sentence him again. This guy is truly an international star, haha.

Damn, 40 billion dollars, that number makes my scalp tingle.
Do Kwon really went all out this time, but on the other hand, is this actually good for the crypto world? At least it can shake things up.
Can't escape, starting in the US from 12 years ago, Korea will have to do it all over again... This guy's life is just like that.
Someone should have paid the price for this long ago.
Thinking about those retail investors who lost everything, it’s really f*cking painful.
Will this verdict have any impact on mainstream coins? Or will they just keep falling...

Looking at this situation, Do Kwon is completely finished. The $40 billion gap is impossible to fill...
---
Another star project comes to a disastrous end. Is this the reality of Web3?
---
Starting in 2012? Let's just wait for the December verdict. It feels like 40 years in Korea is the real despair.
---
This has been a real life lesson. Turns out, dreamers in the crypto world can also become scammers.
---
Terraform Labs is directly buried with it. How many more "bombs" are there in the ecosystem?
---
$204 million in compensation compared to $40 billion in losses, investors are still at a major loss. Is this fair...
---
Once a godfather figure, now it all depends on how tough the prison cell is.
---
I believed the extradition to Korea. The international debt collection tactics are really ruthless.
---
They say a day in the crypto world is like a year in real life. This guy has quickly fallen from the altar.
