I recently heard some interesting news: Sei is actually teaming up with Xiaomi.

What's the specific story? Rumor has it that Sei will collaborate with Xiaomi to launch a crypto wallet app that can also be used to discover content. The key point is that this app will come pre-installed on Xiaomi's new phones — except in Mainland China and the US, all other markets will have Xiaomi phones with it. Considering Xiaomi's shipment volume, this coverage is indeed quite broad.

Even more exciting is their plan to enable stablecoin payments at Xiaomi's global retail stores. The current plan is to pilot this in Hong Kong and the European Union in Q2 2026. Will customers be able to buy phones directly with stablecoins at Xiaomi stores? It sounds quite sci-fi.

On the technical side, this wallet supports direct login via Google account or Xiaomi account, and integrates MPC technology. For ordinary users, the barrier should be much lower, eliminating the need to deal with mnemonic phrases or private keys.

Whoa, Xiaomi is entering the game too? Now regular users finally don't have to memorize private keys anymore.

Well... basically, it's still a problem of incentive compatibility. Xiaomi has large shipment volume and wide coverage, but the issue of pre-installed wallets depends on how they handle user data governance in the future—without such a system, it's just a different form of centralization. Trying stablecoin payments only in 2026? Isn't this timeline a bit conservative, or are they waiting for some policy signals? MPC lowering the threshold for private keys is a good thing, but what about user education and risk prevention process design? This needs thorough preparation; don't repeat the hurried launches that caused projects to fail in history.
