Ethereum's founder Vitalik Buterin shared an interesting observation about Twitter. During Elon Musk's initial takeover of the platform, Twitter indeed seemed to be a symbol of free speech on a global scale. But now?

According to Buterin's observation, the situation has evolved in the opposite direction. The platform has now become a space where hate speech is concentrated. Instead of expanding free expression, the environment has become increasingly toxic.

vitalik's take on twitter is basically the governance failure case study we should all be studying rn... like, removing moderation doesn't magically create free speech, it just shifts the equilibrium to whoever shouts loudest. the incentive structure was never aligned with quality discourse.
