Stripe acquires Valora team: payment giant expands its stablecoin footprint

【Coinpush】Payment giant Stripe makes a big move again—this time targeting a crypto wallet startup team.

This Wednesday, Jackie Bona, founder of the mobile wallet Valora, announced publicly that the entire team will soon merge into Stripe, with a clear goal: to enable more people to use stablecoins as a financial tool. However, both parties are keeping the details, such as how many will join and the acquisition price, tightly under wraps.

Valora was only launched in 2021, focusing on self-custodial mobile wallets designed specifically for on-chain stablecoin users. Interestingly, it seems that the transaction did not include the company’s patents. Bona revealed that the underlying code of the wallet application will be returned to their former employer cLabs, and future development will have to be handled by them.

It appears that Stripe’s move is more about acquiring people rather than the product itself. After all, in the stablecoin payment track, experienced teams are more scarce than ready-made code.

Stripe is taking away talent, and Valora's code still has to be kept for Clabs to play with. It looks like a recruitment tactic.

Stripe is back to talent acquisition, stablecoins really can’t be rushed --- Code returned to cLabs? That’s ridiculous, they’re buying headcount --- I’m relieved because the amount of money wasn’t mentioned, it means it’s not expensive --- Another team acquisition, big Web3 companies are all using this trick now --- Are stablecoin payments really that attractive? Stripe can’t sit still anymore --- It’s outrageous, don’t charge for code and develop it yourself? That’s smart --- It seems Stripe is paving the way for entering the payment chain, about time --- Prices are not disclosed, could very well be a cheap fire sale

Once again, the acquirer is not acquiring the product. Stripe's move is quite interesting. Stripe targeting stablecoin talent shows that this track is really hot. The code has been returned, and it's this group of people... Looks like experience is the hard currency. It seems Stripe is playing a big game; stablecoin payments are definitely about to take off.

nah wait, they're literally buying the team but *not* the tech? that's... suspicious activity detected honestly. either valora's codebase is absolute trash or there's something we're not seeing in the transaction details here. stripe doesn't do charity runs

Stripe is really amazing, buying just for the profile, no need for code... This logic has some substance.

Another acquisition team, it seems the big players are starting to poach talent. Stripe's move is interesting; they are after connections and experience. Stablecoin payments definitely require industry insiders. Feels like everyone is laying the groundwork for the next round. Teams with a solid track record are really in high demand now.

Interested in talent but not code? This move is interesting, showing that Stripe doesn't lack technical expertise, but rather needs seasoned professionals familiar with stablecoin payments. It's a classic case of human resource acquisition, with a clear distribution of chips—the big companies absorb the experience of small teams.
