APAC billionaires allocate an average of 17% of their assets to cryptocurrencies, with 90% used for wealth transfer rather than speculation.

【Blockchain Rhythm】Recently, I came across an interesting report—Sygnum Bank surveyed 270 wealthy individuals in the Asia-Pacific region( with assets over one million USD), and found that these people are really serious about cryptocurrencies.

The data is quite staggering: 87% of respondents already hold crypto assets, with half of them having over 10% of their portfolio in crypto, and an average allocation of 17%. Keep in mind, this isn’t just small investors—they have nearly one-fifth of their investment portfolio in digital currencies.

Looking at future expectations—60% plan to continue increasing their holdings over the next 2-5 years. These investors are mainly located in Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand, and other countries and regions.

In terms of holdings, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana are the most favored main protocol tokens, with 80% of respondents holding them. When asked why they buy? 56% said it was to diversify investment risks, which sounds quite rational.

Even more impressive, 90% of respondents consider digital assets as a long-term wealth preservation tool and part of estate planning, not just for short-term trading.

Gerald Goh, co-founder of Sygnum, provided a very insightful interpretation: “The 17% allocation says it all—these people are no longer speculators aiming for overnight riches like in 2017. They are focused on intergenerational wealth transfer 10-20 years down the line, and digital assets have become the standard in private wealth management across Asia-Pacific. Even if there are macro fluctuations in the short term, institutional-grade products are still in high demand.”

In plain terms, wealthy people are now treating cryptocurrencies as a legitimate asset class, and this is more convincing than any hype or calls to buy.
