Acquisition Details
Paribu has acquired the largest local crypto asset trading platform in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, CoinMENA, for a total of $240 million. This transaction marks the largest fintech merger and acquisition in Turkey’s history.
Background of CoinMENA’s Operations
CoinMENA was founded by Talal Tabbaa and Dina Sam’an in 2020 in Bahrain. The company’s subsidiary, CoinMENA B.S.C., operates as a licensed crypto asset service provider, while Dubai-based CoinMENA FZE has obtained a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license issued by the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA).
CoinMENA has raised nearly $20 million from investors including BECO, Arab Bank Switzerland, Circle, and Bunat Ventures. The platform serves over 1.5 million users from more than 45 countries, supporting the trading of over 50 crypto assets against USD, Bahraini Dinar, AED, SAR, and six other local currencies. The platform also offers institutional services such as over-the-counter (OTC) trading.
Strategic Significance
Yasin Oral, founder and CEO of Paribu, stated: “This deal is not only significant for Paribu but also a turning point for the crypto assets and financial ecosystem in Turkey and MENA. As Paribu, we are proud to have signed the first international merger and acquisition in the crypto space during Turkey’s largest fintech transaction.”
Oral emphasized that Paribu has completed the application for operating licenses for its platform and custody services by 2025. The company’s self-developed ColdShield® technology has set a new standard in digital asset storage, and it has also obtained a license to establish an authorized brokerage, Paribu Investment Securities A.Ş.
Founding partners of CoinMENA, Talal Tabbaa and Dina Sam’an, stated jointly: “Partnering with Paribu will accelerate the development of the region. By combining CoinMENA’s regional expertise with Paribu’s technological strength, we are prepared to create a comprehensive financial product ecosystem for users in Turkey and MENA. This acquisition is the most important turning point in CoinMENA’s history.”

paribu's move this time is quite aggressive, directly taking over the largest MENA platform with 240 million? Will the integration crash?

The Middle East North Africa market seems a bit hot to handle.
---
Turkey fintech's move seems to be aiming to expand into the Middle East.

Such a fierce acquisition price... Will they be the bailout?
---
CoinMENA has been acquired, what should happen to the MENA sector?

$240 million acquisition of Middle Eastern platform? Veteran, I advise everyone not to be too optimistic. No matter how you look at this deal, it seems like you're just taking the fall for someone else.

240 million USD acquisition of MENA's largest exchange? Paribu has made a pretty aggressive move
---
The market potential in the Middle East is really huge, no wonder they are expanding so aggressively
---
Trading 240 million for a regional leader, whether it's worth it depends on future operations
---
Another wave of exchange mergers and acquisitions... alright, let's keep watching the show
---
What is Paribu doing? Burning money to expand territory or does it have a real plan?
---
The Middle East and North Africa region is indeed promising, but can investing so much money pay off?
---
An exchange should have expanded into the MENA market long ago. If nothing unexpected happens, Paribu will become a new regional player
---
If this acquisition can truly integrate CoinMENA's users... it's a major event
---
240 million... this acquisition is definitely a big deal in Turkey
---
It feels like the Middle Eastern crypto ecosystem has been getting more attention recently, investors are eyeing this region

240 million USD acquisition of MENA's largest exchange. Turks don't hold back when they make moves. Is this expansion aiming to dominate the Middle East?
---
Paribu is playing a big game. The MENA market is so huge, someone should have jumped in to grab a slice long ago.
---
Wait, is this price reasonable... It feels a bit expensive.
---
Turkish fintech is really rising. Paribu is getting more and more powerful.
---
Is the crypto market in the Middle East and North Africa really that valuable? Learned something new.
---
But to be fair, it's hard to say what the outcome of such a large acquisition will be in terms of integration.
---
Damn, 240 million USD—must really believe in this market to spend that much.
---
CoinMENA has been acquired. Will users run away...
---
Turkey is now also starting regional expansion. Competition in the crypto market is getting more intense.

Turkey's biggest fintech deal, well done Paribu
---
Middle East and North Africa exchanges are being acquired, the market is about to reshuffle
---
Wait, is this the price for the largest exchange in the MENA region? What's this valuation
---
Paribu is making big moves, their expansion speed is a bit intimidating
---
$240 million, if this acquisition succeeds, all Middle Eastern traffic will be captured
---
No, is this acquisition price a bit harsh? What does CoinMENA think
---
Turkish exchanges are starting to go international, there will definitely be more big moves ahead
