The suggestion was the topic of a meeting held this Thursday (11) in São Paulo, with participation from representatives of the organization and Banco Genial.

The discussion takes place amid the new rules from the Central Bank for virtual asset service providers, recently published and set to take effect on February 2, 2026. The regulations address governance, segregation of client assets, and compliance requirements, reinforcing oversight of companies operating with crypto assets in the country.

For ABToken, the sandbox— a controlled environment for testing products and business models— could help address specific issues with OTC (over-the-counter) operations, a segment that moves significant volumes outside traditional platforms and still lacks minimum standards for transparency and reporting.

According to the association, the measure would allow companies to test solutions under the direct supervision of the Central Bank, reducing risks and speeding up sector standardization.

ABToken’s CEO, Regina Pedroso, stated that regulatory progress is important to provide legal certainty and enable market development. “A regulated environment, with appropriate supervision, is necessary for crypto companies to innovate and grow with confidence,” she said.

The proposal is expected to be formally submitted to the Central Bank in January 2026, with support from companies such as Resolve Pay, Bloquo, and OTCs associated with ABToken. The work involves a dedicated group within the organization and also includes legal analyses from firms like Veirano, Pinheiro Neto, and Bluz.

ABToken affirms that it will continue engaging with the Central Bank and other regulators to contribute to the development of rules that promote transparency, investor protection, and international competitiveness in the Brazilian digital assets market.
