Security researchers at Kaspersky have uncovered a dangerous new threat called Stealka—a Windows infostealer specifically designed to target cryptocurrency wallets and steal passwords. The malware is actively spreading through counterfeit software hosted on popular platforms like GitHub and SourceForge, where unsuspecting users might download what appears to be legitimate tools. If you're storing digital assets on Windows machines, exercise caution when downloading any software. Verify sources carefully and consider using hardware wallets as an additional security layer.

Another new phishing software, this time targeting wallets... Be extra cautious when downloading things from GitHub. --- Hardware wallets are at least safer; soft wallets on Windows will eventually have issues. --- Stealka, the name is quite straightforward, not even trying to hide it haha. --- I’ve never trusted SourceForge much; it’s a gathering place for junk software. --- Another bunch of fake software mixed in with genuine projects. Open-source platforms are now hard to defend against. --- Every day reminding people to verify sources carefully, yet some still fall into the trap, unavoidable. --- Cold wallets are really worth it. Although inconvenient, it’s always better than getting robbed.
