On December 24th, the popular Web3 wallet tool released version 2.68 of its Chrome extension and encountered a security incident. This version was maliciously embedded with code, posing a risk of stealing users' mnemonic phrases, private keys, and other sensitive private information. Preliminary estimates suggest approximately $7 million in assets were lost.

After the incident was exposed, the wallet's official team quickly activated an emergency response plan and fully fixed the code vulnerability in the latest version. At the same time, the official announced that affected users would receive full compensation to protect community trust.

This incident once again reminds users: regularly update wallet applications to the latest version, be cautious when backing up mnemonic phrases, and stay alert to abnormal transaction prompts. The security construction of the Web3 ecosystem is a long-term effort that requires the joint efforts of project teams, users, and the security community.

7 million USD just gone like that, I really can't hold it together anymore. It's better to write down the mnemonic phrase on paper; no matter what, I don't trust these extensions. This compensation was quick, but is it worth destroying trust once? It's again the Chrome extension's fault. Why does this step always have problems?

$7,000,000 just disappeared like that, I really feel heartbroken. That's why I keep my mnemonic phrase locked in a small notebook in the drawer. --- It's the Chrome extension causing trouble again. I keep saying you shouldn't trust browser plugins so much—troublesome. --- Full compensation sounds good, but people who have lost money once probably carry a psychological shadow for life. --- Anyway, I already deleted that wallet long ago. With such high risks, no wonder everyone is switching to hardware wallets. --- What does this kind of thing tell us? Custodial wallets are unreliable; you can only protect your private keys yourself. --- $7 million, how many people have gone back to zero overnight... But the quick compensation attitude is indeed decent. --- I just want to ask how to avoid stepping on these landmines. It feels like there's a new security incident popping up every day.

7 million USD, how many people got scammed... Update your wallet version quickly, don't wait until it's stolen and regret it.

7 million dollars lost, this is the price of not self-custody... I told you not to trust browser plugins so much.

7 million dollars just gone like that, I really can't hold it anymore. Luckily, I had already written the private key on paper.
