Ethereum mainnet this week broke a new record — the number of daily transactions reached 2.2 million, surpassing the previous record. Even more surprisingly, the average transaction fee has dropped to around $0.17.

Looking at the history, you can see how extraordinary this is. Remember May 2022? At that time, the single transaction fee on Ethereum soared to over $200, which was an astronomical cost. From that peak to now, fees have significantly decreased, indicating a substantial improvement in network efficiency.

The driving force behind this is technological upgrades. In 2025, Ethereum plans to implement two major upgrades — Pectra and Osaka — which will further optimize network performance and expand capacity. These upgrades will not only reduce transaction costs but also enhance user experience. As these improvements are gradually implemented, Ethereum’s usability and competitiveness are expected to continue to improve. This is good news for developers and users alike.

2.2 million transactions? The data looks good, but we need to dig into where the actual on-chain liquidity is. The whale chips are probably still in the hands of the same group of people.

17 cents? Really? I still remember the $200 in 2022, I've been numb for a long time. It feels much better now.

2.2 million transaction fees cost only 17 cents, truly amazing. The nightmare of the $200 era is finally over.
