Recent reports indicate that the U.S. Marshals Service may have sold Bitcoin assets confiscated from two Samourai Wallet developers who pled guilty, under the direction of the Department of Justice, on November 3rd of this year through a compliant custody platform. What is the specific amount? Approximately $6.35 million, or 57.55 BTC.

According to relevant documents, these Bitcoins were transferred directly into a custody platform address, and the account balance was subsequently cleared—implying that the assets have likely been disposed of. But here’s the issue: what does Executive Order EO 14233, signed by President Trump, explicitly state? Bitcoins obtained through criminal or civil forfeiture cannot be sold. So, what should be done? According to regulations, these assets should be incorporated into the U.S. strategic Bitcoin reserve.

Therefore, the current question is whether the above disposal action conflicts with existing policies. This involves a shift in the U.S. government’s stance on confiscated crypto assets and also relates to the practical implementation of the strategic reserve policy.

Hmm... this is outrageous. What happened to the promised strategic reserves? Did you sell them just like that?

This is another good show by the US government. On the left hand, they sign an executive order saying they can't sell, but on the right hand, they are secretly disposing of assets. Basically, they just want that little bit of USD.

Wait, aren't the policies and actual operations aligned? Isn't this just routine operation haha This time, the US government is really playing tricks, claiming EO 14233 can't be sold, then turning around and selling it off. LOL 57 BTC just disappeared like that, even compliant platforms can't stop it? That's interesting What happened to the promised strategic reserves? Why did they just give up?

Is it the same old story? Even the US government's EO can be considered worthless paper, it cracks me up.

It's a bit ironic—one hand makes policies, the other hand implements them. Regulations are regulations, reality is reality.
