Distributed storage has always been stuck at the same bottleneck—large-capacity data storage and recovery are too resource-intensive. Walrus's recently launched Red Stuff 2D erasure coding technology is breaking this deadlock and has already been officially deployed on the Sui network.

How powerful is this technology? Just look at the data. When handling large files like images and videos, storage and recovery efficiency can be tripled, far surpassing the traditional methods of IPFS and Arweave, which rely on full replication, and also outperform Storj's RS coding scheme.

The core improvements include: reducing data recovery costs by 80%, with a single node only needing O(B/n) overhead, and the entire network recovery cost lowered to O(B) level. This is especially friendly to decentralized networks, allowing nodes to join and leave at any time without issues. Additionally, storage redundancy can be flexibly adjusted to ensure data security while minimizing storage resource usage.

Practical validation is solid as well. Web3 content platform Decrypt has adopted it, cutting costs by 50% and doubling page load speeds.

In the long run, rooting the Red Stuff technology in the Sui ecosystem is a key move. As on-chain DApps' demand for large data storage grows stronger, the commercial potential of this technology will continue to be unleashed. WAL tokens, serving as the hub for ecosystem governance and value flow, have a clear logical chain. This project is definitely worth paying attention to.

Wait, 3x efficiency? If that's true, we should have crushed IPFS long ago. Why has it taken until now to be commercially available?

Red Stuff sounds impressive, but can this efficiency improvement truly be stable? I'm worried it's just another hype concept.

Finally, someone has solved this longstanding difficult problem. Triple the efficiency is no exaggeration; even Decrypt is using it.

Save 80% of the costs? Tripling the efficiency, I feel like that's a bit exaggerated.

80% of the recovery costs are directly cut. Is this number real? That's a bit exaggerated, isn't it?
