Imagine what would happen if a leading exchange were to be stuck running on someone else's chain.

Every fee change would have to depend on others' approval. Any necessary upgrade would need to wait for review. During network congestion, the exchange's throughput would be directly throttled. When scaled to global trading volumes, this simply cannot be sustained.

This is why autonomous chains are so critical. Autonomous chains are not just a fancy feature; their core function is to cut off external dependencies.

When an ecosystem is expanding, outsourcing execution rights begins to cause problems. Ultimately, having autonomous control is the only stable choice.

This also explains why more and more top teams are building their own L1. With control in hand, they can stand firm amid market fluctuations and respond quickly to ecosystem needs. From an infrastructure perspective, this is not an option but an inevitable trend.

That's right, no one wants to experience the feeling of being manipulated. Costs, upgrades, throughput all depend on others' moods, how uncomfortable that must be. But on the other hand, can a truly autonomous chain solve problems? Isn't it just another form of risk.

actually, the throughput argument is mathematically sound but statistically speaking, most teams building their own l1 are just chasing narrative. given the historical data on failed appchains, the risk-adjusted returns don't check out tbh
