Web3 is not about overthrowing, but about coexisting with the traditional world. It's often asked: Will Web3 eliminate traditional finance? Will it overthrow banks, payments, and the entire existing system?
My answer has always been clear: not overthrow, but integration; not confrontation, but upgrading. I’ve never believed in extremism. I believe in gradual reform, in using technology to improve efficiency, in openness to lower barriers, and in transparency to reduce corruption. The true value of Web3 is not to create an extralegal zone, nor to make speculation easier, but to reconstruct the value internet, allowing the flow of value to be as free, low-cost, and borderless as the flow of information.
Look closely at today’s industry: stablecoins are solving the problems of slow, expensive, and complicated cross-border payments; RWA (Real-World Assets) are bringing real estate, stocks, bonds, and gold onto the blockchain, enabling ordinary people to hold global assets at low cost; public blockchains are improving clearing and settlement efficiency; smart contracts are reducing trust costs. None of these are about “confrontation,” all are about optimization.
Many people misunderstand compliance, thinking it’s about restrictions and losing freedom. But I believe compliance is protection, a bottom line, and the foundation for long-term survival. If an industry always operates in the gray area and never dares to step into the sunlight, it will never grow up. What we should do is not find loopholes or push boundaries, but promote the establishment of rules, and push the industry toward normalization, professionalism, and globalization.
In the next ten years, I am most optimistic about the direction of: the integration of new and old finance. Traditional finance’s experience in capital, risk control, and compliance; Web3’s technology, efficiency, openness, and inclusiveness. The combination of the two is the true next-generation finance.
I also want to tell all developers: don’t decentralize just for decentralization’s sake. Don’t just do it because it’s on the chain. Useful technology is valuable; products that can be implemented have a future. Can what you build help ordinary people? Can it lower costs? Can it improve efficiency? Can it truly solve a small problem? These are more meaningful than shouting “Web3 revolution” a thousand times.
Web3 is not a utopia; it’s a tool, a technology, the infrastructure of the future. It doesn’t create myths; it only serves real people.
