TAO or HYPE: What's the Rational Choice Right Now?
If I had to choose between $TAO and $HYPE right now, I still lean toward $TAO — not because $HYPE is weak, but because the growth story ahead for $TAO is more compelling.
$HYPE – The “Money Printing Machine” of DeFi It’s undeniable that $HYPE is one of the strongest projects in the DeFi space: Annual revenue around $739 million TVL exceeds $5.2 billion Daily derivatives trading volume over $5 billion 97% of fees used for buyback & burn → This is nearly a perfect cash flow model. $HYPE deserves to be considered a “blue-chip” in DeFi. However… Valuation Has Almost Fully Reflected Expectations Market Cap around $9.1 billion FDV up to $37 billion Unlock schedule extends to 2027–2028 → This means that for the price to increase significantly, the project must continue to scale substantially. Therefore, $HYPE may be suitable for: Investors who prefer stability Prioritize real cash flow But do not expect explosive profits $TAO – The Future of AI Story Contrary to $HYPE, $TAO has the flavor of a “growth play”: Market Cap around $3 billion FDV approximately $6.6 billion Max supply of 21 million + halving mechanism → Similar structure to Bitcoin, but within the AI narrative. More notable points: 77% of supply is staked Issuance reduced after halving → Low selling pressure, while demand could increase → creating a “supply squeeze” effect. Not Just Revenue, But Future Positioning Currently, the $TAO ecosystem has: 128 active subnets Growth in AI compute, inference, data sectors Some top subnets have reached about $20 million ARR But the important thing is not current revenue. → It’s: who will control the computing infrastructure if AI becomes the core foundation of the world? Conclusion $HYPE: strong in the present, clear cash flow, but upside may not be too large $TAO: not yet optimized for revenue, but holds a significant position in the AI narrative 👉 Personally, I still hold both. 👉 But if I had to choose one, I would pick $TAO. Because in the next 3–5 years, I bet that AI will be the dominant trend, and projects at the center of that trend will have exceptional growth potential. 🎯 Long-term target for $TAO: $1000.
