DefiLlama: Hackers stole $169 million from 34 DeFi protocols in the first quarter

Golden Finance reported that on April 3, DefiLlama data showed that in the first quarter of 2026, crypto hackers stole more than $168.6 million in cryptocurrency from 34 decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, a sharp decline compared with the same period last year.
The data shows that in January, the $40 million StepFinance private key leak incident was the largest security vulnerability of the quarter, followed closely by a smart contract manipulation incident that led to $26.4 million worth of Ether being stolen. On January 8, Truebit suffered a major security vulnerability incident. The third-largest security vulnerability incident was a private key leak targeting the stablecoin issuer ResolvLabs on March 21.
