Box(Box) launches AI-based security solution 'Shield Pro'…automatically protects unstructured content

Cloud-based content management enterprise Box officially launched its AI-powered security extension tool “Box Shield Pro” on the 3rd (local time). This solution is designed to address the exponentially growing problem of unstructured data, utilizing intelligent agent AI technology specifically developed for content classification automation, ransomware detection, and security operations optimization.

Box emphasized that with the widespread adoption of generative AI and work automation technologies, managing unstructured enterprise content has become increasingly difficult, and existing security tools alone are insufficient to cope with this trend. Shield Pro aims to replace complex manual operations while enforcing security controls without compromising the user experience. This not only eases the operational burden on security teams but also elevates the level of content protection.

Shield Pro consists of three core components. The first is the “AI Classification Agent,” which understands document context and automatically assigns sensitivity based on organization-defined instructions. It can perform sophisticated analysis on a variety of content types, such as product design documents, financial strategies, educational materials, and meeting notes, with a labeling accuracy far superior to traditional rule-based methods.

The second feature is “Ransomware Activity Detection.” It can detect abnormal behaviors such as large-scale file encryption or modification occurring outside the cloud (i.e., on user endpoints) in real time. Within minutes of detection, it sends alerts to security administrators and provides specific context such as affected files and user information to enable rapid response.

The third core function, “AI Threat Analysis Agent,” can automatically generate summary reports, aggregate security log data, and visually explain the causes, impacts, and related user information of incidents. This allows security analysts to grasp the severity of incidents instantly without having to manually sift through complex logs.

Box Shield Pro will be available immediately as a paid add-on service for existing enterprise customers using the “Box Shield” platform, while the “AI Threat Analysis Agent” is planned for release in early 2026. In connection with this launch, Box stressed: “AI is not only changing the way content is managed, but also fundamentally reshaping the paradigm of security system design. In an era where traditional methods are no longer sufficient, proactive automation will be key.”
