Peskov: There is currently no basis for a meeting between the Russian and American heads of state.

Jin10 data reported on October 26th, in a program aired on the 26th local time, Russian President's Press Secretary Peskov responded again to U.S. President Trump's remarks on the 22nd that meeting with Russian President Putin is “inappropriate,” as well as the sanctions announced by the U.S. on the same day. Peskov stated that the presidents of Russia and the U.S. cannot meet just for the sake of meeting. Peskov indicated that Ukraine currently does not want to engage in the negotiation process, and Europe is also fostering this resistance sentiment, thus currently, there are no preconditions for a meeting between the Russian and U.S. presidents. Peskov said, “Trump certainly understands that there is no basis at the moment to believe that any progress can be made in peaceful mediation in the near future.”
