UXLINK Releases Full Review of Security Incident Process: Over $11 Million in Assets Stolen Due to External Attack
Odaily Planet Daily News - UXLINK CEO RollandSaf released a security incident review report, providing a comprehensive explanation of the asset theft incident that occurred on September 22 and emphasizing that the incident was not caused by internal project members. According to the report, attackers posed as business partners and used deepfake video conferences, among other methods, to compromise the personal devices of multiple SAFE key holders over several months, stealing sensitive information such as passwords and private keys, and ultimately gaining control over the old arb-UXLINK smart contract. The hackers then illegally minted additional tokens, transferred and sold assets, resulting in total losses exceeding $11 million. The incident occurred during Korea Blockchain Week, with several core team members present at the event. The team promptly reported the incident to exchanges, partner security agencies, and law enforcement authorities in multiple countries, confirming that the attack originated externally rather than internally. RollandSaf stated that the stolen assets included USDT, ETH, BTC, etc., and that some assets have been recovered with the help of exchanges for buyback purposes. The report clearly denied rumors of a “rug pull,” stating that UXLINK has real revenue, business clients, and a global user base, and has maintained full transparency throughout the incident. The team has completed contract reconstruction, restored the 479 million affected circulating tokens 1:1, and, based on governance voting, unlocked 12% of tokens ahead of schedule to compensate users on major exchanges. Multiple law enforcement agencies are now investigating, and related addresses are under continuous monitoring. UXLINK stated that it will continue to strengthen its security systems and advance business development in AI growth, payment ecosystem FujiPay, and other areas, emphasizing that the project’s long-term outlook remains stable and is still in a phase of rapid growth (Cointelegraph).
