Wu Shuo Daily Select Crypto News - User Purchases AAVE with 50 Million USDT, Receives Only 324 Tokens Due to Price Impact
A user purchased approximately 324 AAVE tokens with 50 million USDT on the Aave platform (supported by CoW Protocol), due to a price impact of about 99%, resulting in only about 324 AAVE (worth approximately $36,000). Aave founder Stani Kulechov stated that the system clearly warned of the high slippage risk before the transaction, but the user confirmed to proceed. The team said they will refund about $600,000 in fees and are studying ways to strengthen user protection mechanisms. On-chain analysis shows that some MEV builders profited heavily from this transaction.

A joint white paper by ARK Invest and Unchained shows that approximately 34.6% of Bitcoin supply remains at long-term risk from quantum computing breakthroughs, while 65.4% is currently relatively secure. Threatened assets include about 5 million BTC that can be transferred due to address reuse, 1.7 million BTC stored in early P2PK addresses, and 200,000 BTC in P2TR addresses. The report notes that while quantum computing is a long-term risk, Bitcoin needs to upgrade via soft forks using post-quantum cryptography (PQC) standards like ML-DSA or SLH-DSA. Additionally, the proposed BIP-360 suggests introducing a Pay-to-Merkle-Root output type to reduce vulnerabilities in Taproot’s key path. ARK estimates that quantum computers may not crack the first public key until the mid-2030s.

Ethereum address poisoning attacks have become industrialized. Following the December 3 Fusaka upgrade that lowered transaction costs, the scale of attacks on the Ethereum network has significantly expanded, with USDT dust transfers increasing by 612%. Between July 2022 and June 2024, approximately 17 million poisoning attempts occurred, resulting in confirmed losses of over $79.3 million. Attackers generate high-fidelity addresses through automation and use low-value dust transfers or zero-value transactions to obfuscate transaction history. Although the success rate per attack is only about 0.01%, large-scale competitive operations enable attackers to earn substantial profits.
