AI Nudes – A Growing Threat

Artificial intelligence has made giant leaps in image generation over the past few years, including the creation of artificial nudes. From stunning landscapes to hyper-realistic portraits, these AI-generated images are becoming increasingly sophisticated and ubiquitous.

The evolution of this technology

It all began in the mid-20th century with basic digital art experiments, but the real revolution came with deep learning and GANs (generative adversarial networks) introduced by Ian Goodfellow in 2014.

These GANs operate through two neural networks that compete against each other: a generator that creates images and a discriminator that evaluates them. This constant competition has perfected the ability to create images that are virtually indistinguishable from those made by humans.

Current uses of these images

AI has opened new creative horizons for artists and designers. The entertainment industries use it for special effects and characters, while in product design it allows for rapid prototyping.

In medicine, these images enhance diagnoses and treatments. Architects and urban planners visualize projects, fashion designers create innovative patterns, and marketing specialists personalize advertisements with this technology.

Ethical dilemmas we face

I am deeply concerned about how this technology can be misused. Deepfakes allow for the superimposition of faces on other people's bodies, creating fake nudes that violate privacy. Intellectual property remains a confusing territory: who owns a work created with AI?

Algorithms trained on biased data perpetuate harmful stereotypes. Additionally, hyperreality generates skepticism towards any visual content, eroding our trust in the media. And let's not forget the creative professionals who see their jobs threatened.

The specific problem of artificial nudity

AI-generated nudes represent a particular threat. They can be used to damage reputations or extort people, famous or not. This problem will only worsen with technological advancements. How many innocent victims will suffer before we take effective action?

AI offers extraordinary possibilities, but we urgently need an ethical and regulatory framework that protects people from its malicious applications. The future of this technology must be built on respect and responsibility, not on exploitation and abuse.
