According to Scam Sniffer's annual report, reported cryptocurrency phishing losses decreased from nearly $494 million last year to approximately $84 million in 2025, a decline of 83%. Although overall incidents have decreased, the threat landscape has shifted as experienced attackers turn to targeting high-net-worth individuals, causing the average loss per victim in November to surge to $1,225. The report also notes that attackers weaponized Ethereum's "Pectra" upgrade by exploiting the EIP-7702 feature to bundle malicious operations, resulting in over $2.5 million in losses as of August.
