Odaily Planet Daily reports that due to soaring oil prices and the prolonged Middle Eastern conflict causing energy supply shocks, U.S. stock index futures declined, ending a turbulent week. This has heightened inflation concerns and sparked worries about potential impacts on economic growth and corporate profits. Adam Crisafulli, founder of Vital Knowledge, noted that U.S. stock futures had been flat to slightly higher before Qatar issued warnings that energy exports might cease. Michael O’Rourke, Chief Market Strategist at JonesTrading, said the market’s reaction was a “mechanical movement” in response to rising oil prices. Due to geopolitical uncertainties, active fund managers have been reducing their positions this week, with mechanized models driving price movements. (Jin10)
