A project partner I'd been collaborating with for a long time sent a document update yesterday and needed me to download a file. My first instinct was almost to blurt out "Scammer?" 🤣
I really didn't dare just click it—I'm too afraid of encountering phishing files sent from hacked accounts.
Later I carefully verified it was actually them, and the project partner was very responsive. They immediately switched to another method, and I explained my concerns to them.
I'd also like to genuinely remind everyone: no matter who sends you a file, don't download or open it carelessly. Always verify the sender's identity multiple times. Security always comes first!
I'd also suggest that project partners avoid sending information via downloadable files!
