I went to Hong Kong at the end of 2023 and happened to open accounts with HSBC and ZhongAn. There's not much to say about ZhongAn—you can apply just by connecting to WiFi over there. I connected to the WiFi at a metro station. HSBC required a border crossing receipt and all that, so I made an appointment on my phone in advance, and I could open the account once I arrived. But later I've been using ZhongAn the whole time because I felt it better suited the habits of Chinese users. I left the HSBC account alone and didn't put any money in it. Now it seems like they've frozen it, and I can't log in anymore...
