On February 26, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning hosted a routine press conference. A reporter asked about the situation in Iran. Mao Ning stated, “We are closely monitoring the development of the Iran situation. China has always advocated resolving issues through political and diplomatic means and opposes the use or threat of force in international relations. The Chinese and Iranian peoples have a long-standing friendship. China supports the Iranian government and people in maintaining national stability and legitimate rights and interests. We hope all parties cherish peace, exercise restraint, and resolve differences through dialogue. China is willing to continue playing a responsible major country role in this regard.” (CCTV News)
