3·15 Exposés "Bleached" Celebrity Chicken Feet! Implicated Company Previously Faced Administrative Penalties
From: Beike Finance
Beijing News Beike Finance Report (Reporter Yan Xia) On the evening of March 15, the CCTV 3.15 Evening Gala themed “Consumer Confidence, Quality Life” was broadcast as scheduled.
The popular chicken feet turned out to be “bleached,” becoming the first exposed case. According to CCTV reports, reporters easily entered Mingyang Food Production Workshop in Chengdu without a health certificate, any health check, or sanitation procedures. This is where the preliminary processing of chicken feet products for Shufu Xiang Food Co., Ltd. takes place. Staff at Shufu Xiang Food admitted that the chicken feet were bleached with hydrogen peroxide.
China’s “National Food Safety Standard for the Use of Food Additives (GB2760-2024)” clearly states that hydrogen peroxide cannot be used in chicken feet processing. However, in this factory, a chemical strictly prohibited by national regulations was used as a key step to transform the chicken feet.
According to Qichacha, Sichuan Shufu Xiang Food Co., Ltd. was established on December 2, 1997. The legal representative is Wang Liqun, with shareholders Chengdu Zhongxing Food Co., Ltd. and Sichuan Rongsheng Tai Group Co., Ltd., holding 60% and 40% respectively.
On February 28, 2026, Sichuan Shufu Xiang Food Co., Ltd. was fined 2,000 yuan by the Market Supervision Administration of Qionglai City, Chengdu. The violation involved the production of original sliced dried meat (spicy flavor) testing positive for “temptation red,” which is suspected of violating Article 34, Item 4 of the “Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China,” which prohibits the production and operation of foods, food additives, and related products that exceed scope or limits, including the overuse of food additives.
In Chongqing Zengqiao Food Co., Ltd., CCTV reporters also found a large number of recycled blue packaging barrels labeled with hydrogen peroxide, commonly known as double oxygen water, with a concentration of up to 35%. The manufacturer is Jinshan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in Meishan City, Sichuan.
Qichacha shows that Chongqing Zengqiao Food Co., Ltd. was established on April 22, 2003. The legal representative is Zeng Qiao, with shareholders Gao Jiaqin and Zeng Qiao holding 60% and 40%, respectively.
On July 31, 2023, Chongqing Zengqiao Food Co., Ltd. was fined 20,000 yuan by the Market Supervision Administration of Hechuan District, Chongqing. The violation involved inadequate cleaning during the washing and desulfurization process of the product (mountain pepper bamboo shoots), failing to remove sulfur dioxide beyond food safety standards. Workers used expired sulfur dioxide test strips, leading to inaccurate results, causing the company to mistakenly believe the sulfur dioxide residues were within safe limits, and the products entered the market.
