IT House, March 16 — Meta has announced that starting May 8, its social media platform Instagram will no longer support end-to-end encrypted messaging. This change does not currently affect Meta’s Messenger and WhatsApp.

Image source: Pexels IT House has learned that end-to-end encryption ensures that only users and their communication partners can view or listen to the sent content, and no third parties, including Meta, can access or listen to it.

When end-to-end encryption is enabled, devices are equipped with special keys to protect the conversation content. When users send messages, videos, or audio in end-to-end encrypted chats, the device locks the content at the time of sending, and only devices with the special chat key can unlock and access the content.
